CANVAS
At this time I am making my own canvas with Richard Schmid's white lead formula.  I like to call Richard’s formula the Superman Surface, the Surface of Power—“I can do anything”. Katie Swatland shares Richard's formula in her new book "Alla Prima II Companion: Richard Schmid's Materials, Tools and Techniques" coming out this summer.  For more information visit:  www.RichardSchmid.com

I also use: New traditions Art Panels and Canvas - L600. White lead, double primed. www.NewTraditionsArtPanels.com

MEDIUM
Ralph Mayer recommended as I do -- all purpose medium:
One part Stand Oil, one part Damar Varnish, five parts Rectified Turpentine.
(A few drops of Cobalt Drier may be added to hasten drying.)

MINERAL SPIRITS
I use Gamsol Odorless Mineral Spirits made by Gamblin.
This is an excellent solvent for thinning oil paint for painting and brush cleanup.

PAPER TOWELS
Viva (one of my most frequently asked questions)
